Day one

Ok, it's not really day one of my gardening fiasco!

I decided to discover the joy of gardening in March of this year -- see the About Me page.  I've dabbled in the art of garden maintenance in the past, mostly as a child with my father and grand-father, but i have never taken my own garden too seriously as a grown-up.

So what has happened since March?

Well my first major undertaking was leaf-raking.  Autumn and Winter kill most things off (I will no doubt do the same in spring and summer) and the deposits of the dying seasons were all around the garden.  I set to raking with great enthusiasm.  It took me a few weekends and by the end of it I had a mountain of leaf litter in, what I decided to call, my compost heap.

Fast forward to the end of April and I continued my task under operation tidy-up.  Not only was I removing the spoils of Autumn/Winter but I was recovering for the vigour of last years untamed growth.  I resolved to keep the garden under better control this year.

Now I can see some garden I can start to plan my attack.  More catch-up stories to follow.
