super-charged growing week

It's all been happening in the garden in the last week and I have not been there to enjoy the flurry of activity.

I was away on business for the week so no evenings in the garden after a day at the office.

The weather was very warm too which only added to my misery.  The heat was great for all the plants but by mid week I was worrying that my veg. patch would start to suffer.  I left clear instructions with my other half to water the veg often, and pay attention to potted plants.

I arrived back on Friday evening, having only been away for five days, and was delighted at the progress of the vegetables; specially the purple-spouting broccoli, it seemed to have doubled in size.

I've also been growing a few things from seed -- more on that later -- again my little seedlings have become super-charged.

I spent the full weekend in the garden and have many tales to tell, but for now I will leave you with this odd image.  Somehow a sunflower seedling is growing out of a tiny hole in my garden wall, about three feet off the ground.

How the seed found its way into this hole is  mystery
